- On March 6, 2008 in the DIEPS IE RAS conference hall the session of the Academic Council "International Economic and Political studies" was held. The report on the subject "Economic Positions of Russian in the Central-Asian Region: Ways of Strengthening under Global Competition Circumstances" was made by Ph.D. (political science) Elena M. Kuzmina.
Central –Asian region, possessing large-scale natural resources of world importance, is of rising interest for global and regional poles of world economy and policy. Central Asia has a great importance for Russia. Economic cooperation with this region strengthens global positions of our country. Although Russia maintains significant influence on the region, currently it experiences growing competition of the neighbor poles. For maintaining its positions, it’s necessary to reinforce efforts on economic cooperation with the countries of fast developing region.
